Frugal Friday – Online bargain shopping

In a previous post I mentioned that my camera has gone on to a better place and I was in the market for a new camera. Not having a large budget for a replacement, I spent hours trying to decide which camera I could get the most “bang for my bucks” so to speak. I had narrowed it down to a handful (thanks to Consumer Reports!) and after reading countless reviews on the handful and then deciding on how much $$ we could actually spend, I settled on the Canon Powershot A590 IS.
My tech-savy father-in-law and my never ending google search for knowledge 
I found websites that hunted the best bargains, compared prices & informed me of specials going on (such as free shipping or coupon codes.)
TechBargains.com – I searched for the camera I later bought here but evidently it was not available any longer. It showed the camera was on sale at Office Max, but apparently Office Max had discontinued the camera.
NewEgg.com – Similar to TechBargains. I did not find my camera on NewEgg, but did find the accessory kit.
BeatThat.com – I actually found the deal I was looking for here. I typed in the product I was looking for, it gave me a listing of the best deals online and then I chose the best deal from the store with the best rating. BeatThat also gave me the coupon code I needed for $10 off!
While my camera was not “cheap” it was one of the best deals for the money spent. And I was happy that I could save even a little money on such a big purchase.
All in all, I spent $113 w/ free shipping on a camera that lists for $179 & retails for $130.
I encourage you before you spend $$ research all the options and you’d be surprised what a simple google search can do to help save you a few dollars!

So — when will your new camera arrive? I got a Canon SX100-IS a few months ago as a camera to be able to carry around in my purse more easily. Love it!

It should arrive this week! I’m so excited! I just wish I could have gotten it before the twins birthday today, but maybe I can stage a few pics
