A Devil At Home

The way in which a man lives in his home is vital. It
will not do to be a saint abroad–and a devil at home!
There are some of that kind. They are wonderfully sweet
at a prayer meeting, but they are dreadfully sour to their
wives and children. This will never do! Every genuine
believer should say, and mean it, ‘I will walk within my
house with a perfect heart.’ It is in the home that
we get the truest proof of godliness!
‘What sort of a man is he?’ said one to George Whitefield;
and Whitefield answered, ‘I cannot say, for I never lived
with him.’ That is the way to test a man–to live with him.
Charles Spurgeon
I have been guilty of this myself. May God help us to walk with a perfect heart amongst those who we have the most influence over. How convicting…
As the kids get older they pick up on this! My oldest son (11 yrs) has commented that I could be in the foulest mood having just blessed everyone out and answer the phone and have a totally different demeanour and tone of voice. Is that what I want to teach my children. Definitely not…

Yeah, guilty. My husband says I can be hateful and snappy at him in the car, and the minute I step into my inlaws house, there’s not a harsh word. I think we’re all like that, to a certain extent. We want others to see us in a postive way but don’t see that our children need to see us being steady. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways, right? Not excusing it by any means. I think sometimes we try so hard to shine our light outside our own God-given domains and fail to see the darkness we bring into our homes. Amen. How goes packing?
Amen! Trying hard to break this awful “habit.”
) Today I hope to finish the den/kitchen/playroom. There are just a few odds and ends, and then I’ll start in on the kids’ rooms. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
Packing is going good. I am amazed at how many books we have! I spent all day yesterday just packing books (in between breakfast, lunch and supper preparations, running interference with the children, running errands and baby care
I need to have a yard sale sometime this week but I just don’t know. Maybe Friday or Saturday.

So between breakfast, lunch and supper, running herd on the kids and errands AND baby care, you had about 10 minutes left to pack
You got it! Today I’ve had ZERO time to pack. Dearest needed my help to apply for jobs
I just hope he can help a little with the packing! Gonna have a yard sale Friday, you oughtta stop by!
