The Smallest Blessing
April 16, 2009 > No Comments
I’ve just started visiting over at Her Southern Charm’s blog and today (and every Thursday) she gives us all an opportunity to share life’s smallest blessings with each other.
Now that I finally got my camera (YAY! It came yesterday!) I am looking for any opportunity to use it.
While I was pondering what I was thankful for, little Susannah came toddling by with a pencil looking for a nice clean canvas for her newest work of art. We’ve recently discovered Susannah’s love of art and somehow, without our knowledge, she has managed to leave us quite a few examples of her handiwork all through the house.
I promptly pried the pencil from her death grip and directed her toward another activity. Amid her protests I spotted yet another one of her canvases. While, yes, I am very thankful for Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser, I am also thankful for the little hands that draw on my walls. If life just threw a different curve ball at us, I could quite possibly never bring myself to erase such a precious reminder of our Baby Girl…Perhaps I’ll leave this piece of art for now and just keep the door closed…

Aren’t those little types of art great. I have a few that the magic eraser can not remove. One thing that works fairly well is to keep her art paper in a special place in each room. Teach her where it is. This type of little artiest when they get the urge to draw they are going to draw. Their art is such a blessing even when it is where we do not want it.
This is the first time I have been by your spot. I popped on over here from “Her Southern Charm”

My now 5-year old daughter loved to use our walls and windows as her canvas when she was younger also
Our current 2-year old loves to do his art on our kitchen table (no paper needed) ~ you’re right, we do need to remember to be thankful for their little hands.

Lillie is the same way. When she learned to write the letter A , they popped up all over the walls…every room. Chloe is bad for it with crayons which is so hard to get off the walls. Jack, he takes the cake. When we were studying the solar system, he drew the WHOLE solar system in orange crayon on my just cleaned walls. My husband flips out, I tend to be a bit calmer. I’m like you…one day they’ll be gone and I’ll wish they were here drawing on my walls again. My handiwork is still on the walls and doors of my parents house, 20 something years later. Great post!

Ah the joys of the artsy child! We have had a few of these…. the current artist chooses markers and orange crayons to draw with on the walls….. even Mr Clean has a hard time with those!

We have a nice art arrangement in highlighter pink.
I have to laugh when they write their own name on the wall and then say they didn’t do it. [I don't let them see me laughing.]

I’ve got several “canvas” walls in my house right now, and I find new artwork nearly every day. What is with those crazy toddlers?! And… how is it that I don’t know when this is happening, and I’m home with her all day?!
Mr. Clean will be busy at my home too, but not just yet.
Thanks for linking up today!

If she does something great, you can just put a frame around it and you will have instant artwork on your wall!
