think about it2 Thoughts are Things

I came across this convicting message in a little devotional book I’ve had for years and thought it appropriate for this weeks Think About It Thursday. Please post on your blog a thought worth pondering and leave your name & blog title on Mr Linky with your URL to your blog post. Thank you and have a great Thursday!

Philippians 4:8-9

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest,

whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,

whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise,

think on these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do:

and the God of peace shall be with you.

The thoughts one entertains are the things one enjoys, and what one enjoys reveals what one is.

If we entertain only those thoughts that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, there will

be little time for us to think of things which are evil. In other words, if we fill our minds with pure thoughts we crowd out those that are impure.

The words “think” and “thank” come from the same root. One who “thinks” right will want to “thank,” because as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” As we think about our blessings our hearts will overflow with thanksgiving. One who is thankful to another will be thoughtful of that one-it works two ways.

Now thank we all our God

With heart and hand and voices,

Who wondrous things hath done,

In whom His world rejoices;

Who, from our mother’s arms,

Hath blessed us on our way

With countless gifts of love,

And still is ours today.

This is so true! I find myself much happier when I focus on the blessings in my life as it is harder for the negative to get ahold and bring me down.
