What’s in my book basket…

In our library book basket this week:

My Momma Likes to Say by Denise Brennan-Nelson ~ I love this book! A good book to have in your library, I think I’ll have to keep my eye out for an inexpensive copy. A little boy tells what his momma likes to say and that he doesn’t understand, but he likes it anyway. Sayings such as “Hold your Horses” & “Money doesn’t grow on trees.” Then apart from the story it explains what each of these sayings mean, and where they came from. We all enjoyed reading this book.

Randolph Caldecott’s Picture Books ~ Beautiful book to look at! Even my 12 yr old boy said he really liked this book. This book reproduces 9 of Randolph Caldecott’s most popular stories, including ‘The House that Jack Built,’ ‘Hey Diddle Diddle,’ & ‘Baby Bunting’

You’re All My Favorites by Sam McBratney ~ This was a sweet book to read with all the children. There is jealousy among the three bear siblings and the Daddy tells why each one of them is his favorite. A great bedtime storybook.

The White House An Illustrated History by Catherine O’Neill Grace ~ A picture book of the history of the White House. It has large fold out pictures, cut-away pics showing the inside of different rooms. A fascinating book if you’re interested in the White House.

Below are my children’s reviews of the books they read:

Kaitlyn (10)

Baby Brains and Robo Mom by Simon James ~ I like this book because it is VERY funny. In this book Baby Brains saw that his parents were always working and very tired, so he invented RoboMom and she did all the work.

My Momma Likes to Say by Denise Brennan-Nelson ~ I like this book because it has a lot of stuff my Mommy says.

Nathan (12)

Spies and Spying: So You Want to Be a Spy by Kate Walker and Elaine Argaet ~ This book tells how you can become a spy. It also describes all the different jobs, overt and covert, in a spy intelligence network. I really like this book

Windows XP for Everyone by Jaime A. Restrepo ~ This book is so simple to understand. It starts out with how to use the mouse and ends with fixing the most complicated problems; this is a good book for beginners and advanced people alike.

The FBI by Terry Collins ~ This book tells of the history of the FBI in comic format. I don’t care for the comic book format much but it was different and fun to read.

I’ll have to put “My Momma Likes to Say” on my library list. It sounds like a book that we’d enjoy reading.
